Zags Win WCC Tournament
LAS VEGAS — The Gonzaga University men’s basketball team has defeated St. Mary’s University 83-58 in the West Coast Conference Championship game Monday night in Las Vegas.
Seniors Josh Heutvelt and Micah Downs led the Zags with 17 and 12 points respectively.
For the Gaels, senior Diamon Simpson had 19 points and junior Omar Samhan had 17 points.
With the win, the Bulldogs have earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Division I Tournament. This will be their 11th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
This is the ninth WCC Tournament win for the Bulldogs over the past 11 years. The Zags are now 26-5 on the season.
