Zag Swag Bookstore Bound

SPOKANE – The next stop in the post-season is Memphis for the Gonzaga Bulldogs as they get ready to face North Carolina in the Sweet 16. The next stop for Zag swag however is as close as the GU Bookstore.

A last second shot by Demitri Goodson propelled Gonzaga past Western Kentucky into the Sweet 16 for the first time in three years.

Now as the team gets ready for their next game this Friday, Bulldog fans are preparing to queue up at the Gonzaga Bookstore to get their hands on the Zags’ Sweet 16 T-shirts. The shirts are en-route to Gonzaga after being printed on Sunday and shipped out Monday.

For some students it’s tough to study or event think about school at all now that the Zags have made it to the Sweet 16.

“It’s kind of shocking, I’ve never been around a team that is that good,” Freshman AJ Fritzberg said.

Fritzberg and his friend Scott Sullivan couldn’t have asked for a better way to finish their freshman year.

“It kind of sets the tone for the next three years after this one,” Sullivan said.

Scott Wagemans was in Portland to see Demitri Goodman’s winning shot that sealed Western Kentucky’s fate and sent Gonzaga on to Memphis.

“Oh my God I lost my voice and now I’m sick because of it, we were in tears pretty much for about five minutes,” Wagemans said.[

Wagemans is searching for a new GU sweatshirt to fit his budget now that he’s spent all his money following the Zags to Las Vegas for the WCC tourney and then to the NCAA tourney in Portland.

“I just love being apart of it, I love just upholding the Gonzaga logo,” he said.

So with the Zags dancing on in the tourney everyone wants a piece of the action. Monica Chapman with the Gonzaga bookstore was in charge of picking out this year’s Sweet 16 T-shirts. Chapman ordered 360 shirts and she’s already planning for Friday.

“I’ve got Final Four designs picked out so if they should go there, things happen so quickly in terms of turning things around and getting things shipped should they win we have to be ready to respond,” she said.

The Gonzaga gear will be available at the GU Bookstore at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
