Your Memorial Day 2018 travel guide for Washington roads

WASHINGTON — Although it’s not quite summer yet, WSDOT says Memorial Day weekend often brings ‘summer-level traffic’ to Washington roads.
That’s why it’s important to plan ahead before you head out the door.
WSDOT sent out these tips to help you get where you’re going with fewer headaches:
-Check the Washington State Department of Transportation’s best times to travel charts to help avoid traffic jams.
-Get informed about WSDOT’s helpful online tools, including the WSDOT mobile app, traffic cameras and email alerts.
-Follow WSDOT on Twitter and Facebook.
-Pre-program your vehicle radio to 530 AM and 1610 AM for highway advisory radio alerts.
-Call 511 for updated road conditions.
-Allow extra time for travel during the holidays to avoid rushing or distraction.
WSDOT says most state highway construction work is suspended through the upcoming holiday weekend to ease congestion.
