Your guide to fun events this New Year’s Eve

This is just a taste of the festivities!

SPOKANE, Wash. — The New Year is almost upon us, and whether the decade was a good one or a bad one – why not close it out with some fun events around town?

First Night Spokane no longer holds a New Year’s Eve party, but you can still enjoy a live fireworks show at Riverfront Park on Tuesday night. Festivities begin the evening, with fireworks at 9 p.m. and midnight. The celebration includes a light show at the Pavilion, ice skating at the Numerica Skate Ribbon, and rides on the Carrousel.

Of course, if you long for the halcyon days 100 years ago, head over to the Bridge Press Cellars for ‘Swingin’ in the New Year: Back to the 20’s.’ It runs from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., with live music from the Sara Brown Band, complimentary champagne, dance lessons and all kinds of games.

We get it – maybe you don’t want to choose between 2020 and 1920. Maybe you would prefer to compromise and go to ‘80s New Year’s Eve’ at the Lucky You Lounge. Don your 1980s attire and have some drinks; there will be a live 80s-music cover band, a DJ and photobooth. Just pay a $10 cover charge and you are in.

If you prefer something a bit more refined, consider going to the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox to hear the Spokane Symphony play Beethoven’s Ninth. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

Speaking of refined, the Historic Davenport Hotel is hosting ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz New Year’s Eve Gala,’ from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The tickets are $150 per person, but will transport you to a world of red-carpet paparazzi lines, elegant three-course meals and a lively dance floor with a masterclass big band.
