WSU welcomes Nick Rolovich as new football coach in press conference

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State Cougars new head football coach Nick Rolovich was introduced to the public at a press conference this afternoon in Pullman.
The press conference started with President Shulz thanking Mike Leach and his staff for putting the football team in the position it is in.
Athletic Director Pat Chun emphasized the family culture at Washington State by saying, “The word family means something to us, we’re so close we refer to our legends by their first names.” He went further to reference Drew, Gardner, and Jack.
Rolovich took the podium and talked about the importance of family, and assured Cougar fans they will not be starting over by saying, “This is not a rebuild, this is an addition, and all the permits are in place.”
When asked by someone in the audience “Two words: Apple Cup.” Rolovich responded with, “Three numbers 3, 1, 7 that’s the amount of days til we get to play it,” which was met with applause.
The Pac-12 football schedule was released today, the Cougars will open their 2020 season on the road at Utah State September 5th, their home opener the following week against Houston.
