Writer’s Guild Flamed Over Leno’s Monologue

BURBANK, Calif. (AP) — Jay Leno did it again. He wrote and delivered a monologue on “The Tonight Show” Thursday night. That’s even though the writers union has told him this is a violation.

NBC is supporting Leno, saying the WGA agreement allows him to write his own material. The writers guild isn’t saying if it will bring action against Leno.

During Thursday night’s show, Leno said the program was as loose as it’s ever been. He says he wants “the writers to win this damn thing” so they can get back to the same “old boring ‘Tonight Show.”‘
