Worldwide sports legend Kobe Bryant gone too soon; remembering his life and NBA reaction

CALABASAS, Calif. — Most will remember where they were, what they were doing when they first heard the news. Unlike other events, this memory won’t be a fond one, because the world lost a legend on Jan. 26, 2020 in a way that seemed too hard to believe.
Kobe Bryant was killed along with his 13-year old daughter, Gianna and seven others in a helicopter crash in Calabasas. He leaves behind his wife, Vanessa, daughters Natalia, 17, Bianka Bella, 3, and Capri Kobe, born in June of 2018.
Bryant was better known by his first name, and his death is a worldwide loss, as he transcended the sport of basketball in crafting the “Mamba Mentality.” That’s the title of his book, where he describes the way he plays and lived life.
“To sum up what Mamba Mentality is, it means to be able to constantly try to be the best version of yourself. That is what the Mentality is, a constant quest to try to better today than you were yesterday.”
Other NBA and sports legends reacted to his loss Sunday, most were stunned and at a loss for words.
