Woman who didn’t report death gets 15 years
A 44-year-old Boise woman who pleaded guilty to failing to report the 2007 death of her landlady from whom she had stolen more than $7,500 has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The Idaho Statesman reports that Carrie Horsman was sentenced Wednesday in 4th District Court and must serve at least five years before she’s eligible for parole. Horseman in October pleaded guilty to grand theft as well as failing to report the death of 75-year-old Dee R. Lynn of Meridian.
Lynn’s decomposing body was found zipped in a suitcase in the garage of a house she shared with Horsman as police investigated a check fraud case against Horsman.
Horsman was on probation for a previous theft case when Lynn went missing. Lynn’s cause of death could not be determined.
