Woman rescued from Spokane River being evaluated for hypothermia

SPOKANE, Wash. — Search and Rescue personnel rescued a woman from the Spokane River near Peaceful Valley Tuesday afternoon.
Fire crews responded to the scene within five minutes of the initial call and found the woman in distress.
According to a release from the Spokane Fire Department, the woman was wet, hypothermic and threatening to move to the shore, despite advice to wait for the Water Rescue Team.
Crews quickly got in the water and pulled the woman to shore. She was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for hypothermia.
