Williams Flats Fire near Colville Reservation nearly contained

Fires crews are continuing progress on the Williams Flats Fire, which is now 100% contained, but still burning.

All evacuation orders have been lifted.

The fire burned 44,446 acres. All personnel have been demobilized, and local authorities are now in charge of monitoring the fire.

Traffic within the perimeter of the fire will be limited to residents, who are advised to use extreme caution in the area.

The Williams Flats Fire was first reported at 3:23 a.m. Friday, August 2. The fire was fueled by fallen dead trees, grass, sage and bitter brush. Flash floods, dry and breezy winds, and hot temperatures further amplified the flames, which at its peak led to numerous evacuation orders in the area.
