White House Calls Iranian-US Navy Incident ‘Reckless’
WHITE HOUSE (AP) — The White House apparently isn’t satisfied with Tehran’s explanation for a recent confrontation between U.S. and Iranian ships.
White House press secretary Dana Perino says “it was out of the ordinary,” and “reckless.”
The top U.S. Navy commander in the area says an Iranian fleet of high-speed boats charged at and threatened to blow up a three-ship U.S. Navy convoy passing near but outside Iranian waters Monday.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry suggested the Iranian boats didn’t recognized the U.S. vessels and told the country’s state news agency it’s “something normal that takes place every now and then.”
Perino says is wasn’t “normal behavior” and says the White House position is, “they should not do it again.”
