Northern Clearwater Mountains; Southern Clearwater Mountains

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 14
inches over Lolo Pass, Lost Trail Pass and in the higher
terrain. Lower elevations down to 2500 feet can expect 2 to 4
inches.

* WHERE...Elk River, Highway 11 Pierce to Headquarters, Pierce,
Dixie, Elk City, Highway 12 Lowell to Lolo Pass, Highway 93
Sula to Lost Trail Pass, and Lolo Pass.

* WHEN...Until 9 AM MDT /8 AM PDT/ Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult.

Avalanche Warning

Bonner, ID; Boundary, ID; Kootenai, ID; Shoshone, ID

The Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center in Sandpoint has issued a BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE WARNING
for the following areas: ID 017 (Bonner County)...ID 021 (Boundary
County)...ID 055 (Kootenai County)...ID 079 (Shoshone County)

* WHAT...The avalanche danger for the warning area will rise to
high Saturday and Sunday for elevations above 4,000'.

* WHERE...The Selkirk Range of Northern Idaho, Cabinets Mountains,
Purcell Mountains and the Silver Valley/St. Regis Basin.

* WHEN...In effect from Sat 09:00 PDT to Sun 18:30 PDT.

* IMPACTS...Recent heavy snow combined with strong winds will
likely create widespread areas of unstable snow. Storm slabs
are building on very firm and crusty surfaces, making natural
and human triggered avalanches very likely.

* PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Very dangerous avalanche
conditions. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended
through Sunday. Avalanches may run long distances and can run
into mature forests, valley floors, or flat terrain.

mph.

* WHERE...Lookout Pass.

* WHEN...Until 4 PM PDT this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Motorists planning to drive over Lookout Pass on
Interstate 90 should prepared for winter driving conditions.
