Weapons In Fatal Shooting Sent To Crime Lab

SPOKANE – Investigators have shipped the weapons involved in a fatal shooting to the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab in Cheney for ballistic testing.

A .22 caliber target pistol that Johnnie Longest used to shoot a K9 twice after the dog cornered him in an alley off Division Street was shipped to the crime lab along with the sidearm used by the police officer that shot Longest.

Because of Longest’s previous felony convictions it was illegal for the Deer Park man to possess the gun.

At the crime lab both weapons will be fingerprinted and forensic scientists will also use ballistic testing to connect the pistols to casings found at the scene and the slugs recovered from the shooting victims.
