Washington Trust Bank teaming up with the Extreme Team to renovate Spokane Humane Society’s big red barn
SPOKANE, Wash. – An old barn is getting a new makeover thanks to Mark Peterson and the Extreme Team.
In just a few weeks, the Spokane Humane Society’s barn will get a slight tune-up. The special renovation will give all their special dogs a place to run around while they wait for their forever homes.
“There has not been a place for the volunteers to walk dogs and the weather is bad and there also isn’t a place for our 31 staff to come together and have a meeting. This is going to be a gamechanger,” said Executive Director Sheila Geraghty.
Washington Trust Bank is paying the big bucks for the project; the bank is donating $50,000. The barn will also feature a special plaque inside to honor Hank, a dog who died in front of Washington Trust Bank last year.
“When they heard we’re going to do this, they’re so excited to be here, get involved, get their hands dirty and really make this space for the animals and the Spokane Humane Society,” said Director of Communications Katie Wagnon.
Construction on the barn will begin on February 17 and take just three days to finish.
