Washington grandmother jailed until DUI sentencing

A Sammamish grandmother convicted of a fatal DUI will remain in jail until her sentencing hearing after prosecutors say she disobeyed the court by drinking alcohol.

KIRO-TV reports that Carol Fedigan pleaded guilty to crashing through her home last May, killing her husband and son-in-law. She was drunk and had taken the sleeping aid Ambien.

An alcohol monitoring device detected that Fedigan was drinking from October 5 to 7.

Her attorney argued Thursday that the device’s results were flawed, but prosecutors say her blood alcohol content reached twice the legal limit that the device was properly maintained.

King County Superior Court Judge John Chun said Fedigan should remain in jail until Oct. 30, when he is expected to sentence her to six years in prison.
