Warrior Cane Project teaches wounded veterans self-defense

A senior center in Spokane got a very unique self-defense lesson Friday morning.

The Warrior Cane Project is a class created for wounded veterans. Instructors train people on how to use their cane as a self-defense weapon. The method combines martial arts and self-defense.

They say it’s a good way to protect yourself without using a firearm or knife.

Project leaders say the method saves lives and prepares people well in the case of an attack.

Instructors say training military veterans into using combat canes empowers them and it also serves as a method of physical rehabilitation.
