Vigil for actress Misty Upham found dead in Auburn

Dozens of people sang, played drums and prayed for Native American actress Misty Upham at a vigil Sunday in Auburn near the ravine where her body was found Thursday along the White River.

Her father, Charles Upham, told KING he doesn’t believe his daughter committed suicide. He thinks she was trying to get away from someone when she fell to her death down the steep, wooded embankment.

Police say there is no evidence of foul play in the death.

Upham was known for her roles in “August: Osage County,” “Frozen River” and “Django Unchained.”

A funeral service is scheduled Saturday at the Muckleshoot Reservation in Auburn.
