SEATTLE — The University of Washington marching band showed gratitude to their rival at this year’s Apple Cup.

The band spelled out the word “THANKS” on the field before Friday’s game to show support for Washington State University’s marching band — a response to what they did for the UW band after a terrible bus crash on I-90.

A bus carrying 56 UW band members and staff rolled onto its side while they were heading to Pullman for the game in 2018. More than 40 students were injured, and the UW band was not able to make it.

The WSU marching band put rivalry aside, learned the Huskies fight song and played it at the game.
