US Wants ‘Clear’, ‘Strong’ UN Response To NKorea
WASHINGTON — U.N Ambassador Susan Rice says the U.S. is asking the United Nations for “a clear and strong response” to North Korea’s missile launch.
Rice said the U.S. is calling for a Security Council resolution that would be binding under international law, so North Korea’s leaders understand “they can’t act with impunity.”
Rice called the launch “clearly a violation of international law.” She made her comments in an interview on CBS’ “The Early Show.”
Rice said the United States is in private consultations with key partners of the Security Council, which met in an emergency session Sunday. She said the private meetings would continue over the next few days.
