Two people survive plane crash in Whitman County
WHITMAN CO., Wash. — Two people have survived a plane crash in southwestern Whitman County, authorities confirmed Friday morning.
The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Pullman Radio that emergency crews were called to the crash around 10:30 a.m.
The plane went down south of Hooper near the intersection of Hooper Canyon and Hammer Grade Roads.
According to the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office, the pilot tried to land in an open field when deputies say his aircraft either ran out of fuel or had mechanical difficulties.
Both the pilot and his passenger were taken by LifeFlight to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lewiston to be treated for their injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
