Train Derailment Leads To Evacuations
MECCA, Calif. (AP) — A Union Pacific train derailed in the Southern California desert town of Mecca last night, setting two tanker cars ablaze.
Fire officials say about 60 residents of nearby homes have been evacuated, and a cloud of toxic acid fumes is lingering over the crash site.
No injuries have been reported.
Mecca is about 140 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
