SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A train crashed into a camper van in Otis Orchards on Friday evening.

The crash happened near the intersection of E. Trent Ave. and N. Harvard Rd, where the driver was going north on Harvard.  Washington State Patrol said he pulled up and got stuck in traffic, noticing he was too close to the tracks.

When the arms came down, WSP said he tried pulling forward, but the back of his van got hit by the train. The train pushed the van and the front of the vehicle hit the railings.

The driver only received minor injuries and was able to walk out on his own. He went to the hospital as a precautionary.

WSP advised people that if they notice they’re in the danger zone, the train stop arms are built to be broken. They should save their lives and drive through.
