Thursday is cooler, but still hot for September – Matt

SPOKANE, Wash.– After a sizzling Wednesday, Thursday will be much more comfortable in the Inland Northwest. Don’t misunderstand though, it’s still going to be hot. We’ll start the day mild and breezy in the 60s. Highs will top out in the low to mid 90s today with a few upper 80s for highs in North Idaho.

Air Quality will be a factor in the forecast to watch after lightning started a few new fires in the Inland Northwest on Wednesday. Lighter winds today will also let any smoke nearby linger longer in your neighborhood. Look for Moderate air quality with short periods where it gets better or worse than that.

We have another round of warm air on the way for Friday. It is very unlikely that we will hit 100°, but it isn’t impossible. That would be a first for the month of September!  We expect more daily high temperature records on Friday even without hitting triple digits.

The Labor Day weekend will feature breezy and warm conditions and perfect weather to celebrate the unofficial end of the summer season. Windy weather on Saturday along with an isolated chance for some lightning storms will be another challenge for fire crews.
