Third person dies in crash on US 95 since beginning of August
WORLEY, Idaho — A 55-year-old woman died in a crash on US 95 near Worley on Thursday.
It is the third fatality crash on the highway since the beginning of August.
Idaho State Police identified the victim in Thursday’s crash as Delora C. Fink of Coeur d’Alene.
Troopers said she was traveling north on US 95 and drove left of center in the south lanes. She collided head-on with Larry J. Blair, 66, of Potlatch. Fink died on scene and was wearing a seat belt. ISP said Blair was not wearing a seat belt. He was treated and released on scene.
The crash closed US-95 for over six hours. The road was reopened late Thursday night.
ISP responded to crashes on US 95 near Tensed on August 2 and 17. In the first crash, a pickup truck collided with a semi. Both caught on fire and the driver of the pickup died at the scene. The semi-truck driver was air-lifted to the hospital and another passenger was taken by ambulance.
A 32-year-old man died in the August 17 crash after his car crossed over the center lane and collided with a pickup. The driver of the pickup was taken by LifeFight to Kootenai Health.
Following Thursday’s crash, ISP tweeted about their frustration.
“We are as frustrated as you are. We have had emphasis patrols on 95 and will continue them. Unfortunately, the vast majority of our calls for services, crashes and complaints, keeps us in our higher traffic areas,” the tweet read.
