The YMCA Breaks Ground On New Facility

SPOKANE — The YMCA and YWCA is breaking ground this weekend on a second new facility.

Construction of a new “Y” in North Spokane starts soon while crews are making progress on another new facility in Downtown Spokane.

The facility will be built on North Monroe just across from the Spokane County Courthouse.

The building is actually a groundbreaking facility for the YMCA and YWCA.

It is the first time the two organizations have co-located in the same facilities, which avoids the duplication of services, saves money and expands programs.

Saturday they will break ground on a second new facility in North Spokane at Nevada Hwy 2.

The new YWCA location is within minutes of more than 140-thousand people.  Officials say it’s their goal for everyone in Spokane County to live within 15 minutes of a ‘Y’ facility.

The official ground breaking for the new Northside facility is Saturday at 10 a.m.
