The Gathering at the Falls Powwow Celebrates 27 years this weekend

Native arts, performances, food and music can all be found at the Gathering at the Falls Powwow. Tribes from places like Idaho and Montana, and as far as New Mexico and South Dakota will travel to Spokane for the weekend long event. Anyone is invited to attend the activities, though that aim to provide attendees with a unique cultural experience.

Chairman of the event Shane Garcia said, “we want a lot of non-natives to come out and experience this because it is a social, public thing and it goes on all over the country and we like to share our culture. It’s what we’ve always done and so we want to keep doing that.”

On Sunday, the Gathering at the Falls Powwow will conclude with the sixth annual Kids Powwow. The event is free.
