The Barre Code to open in North Spokane Saturday

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane native Amy Cathey has returned to her hometown to open the area’s first Barre Code Studio that focuses on what women can gain from fitness and self-care.
Words like “weight-loss” are not something you will be hearing inside the Barre Code Studio that is set to open Saturday in North Spokane.
Prior to returning to Spokane, Cathey worked as a casting director in Chicago. She said she saw first-hand the emphasis both women and men placed on looking good over feeling good. It served as part of her inspiration to open a fitness center where 100% of attention is paid to things like confidence, strength, community and friendship.
Their North Division Street location doesn not just offer you typical ballet-inspired workouts. In addition to barre classes, they offer classes for total body conditioning, ones that combine barre workouts with stretching and even a class where you can walk away with some serious self defense skills!
“Brawl” is a workout that combines kickboxing and self defense. While working up a sweat kickboxing, students are taught how the skills they are learning can apply to real life situations.
For moms with kids at home who struggle to fit in fitness, Barre Code offers a unique service mid-morning. Tucked away in the studio is a room labeled “The Kid Code.” For five dollars, Barre Code offers babysitting so you can get your workout in and not have to worry about finding a sitter.
Here’s a look at the TBC (total body conditioning) class offered at @TheBarreCode ! Barely any time is spent on the bar, instead the workout is on the mats where weights and a “body bar” is used. @kxly4news pic.twitter.com/N73zX6CRHN

The studio opens to the public on Saturday, May 11. To celebrate their opening day, free classes, studio tours, treats and even a photobooth will be available. Special deals on classes will be offered in anticipation of Mother’s Day as well.
The Barre Code is located at 11921 North Division Street.
