Temporary Closure Of E. Idaho Airport Worries Workers

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Employers and employees who depend on Idaho Falls Regional Airport say they are concerned about their livelihoods when the facility closes for a month in the fall.

The airport is scheduled to close from September 2nd to October 1st so the main runway can refurbished.

Airport Manager Len Nelson says doing the work this fall means the Federal Aviation Administration will pay 90 percent of the $7 million to $8 million cost of the project.

He says half the runway needs to be rebuilt and the lighting system needs to be rewired.
