Teenager pulled from car after falling asleep and crashing into a bus

COLFAX, Wash. — A 17-year-old boy was pulled from his car after falling asleep at the wheel and crashing into a bus.

The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office says an initial investigation indicates the teenager was driving west on Endicott Road when he fell asleep and drifted into the oncoming lane of traffic. The bus driver, who was just starting her bus route, tried to avoid the car but was unable to, hitting the car.

Emergency crews spent 30 minutes removing the teen from the car. He injured his arm and was taken to a Spokane hospital via Life Flight.

There were no children or other passengers inside the bus when it crashed. The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating Wednesday morning’s crash.
