Ted Nugent helps raise funds for new Republic K9
REPUBLIC, Wash. — A Spokane corporation paid for a new K9 after Republic, Washington lost their K9 Isko.
Singer Ted Nugent posted on Facebook after hearing that Republic lost K9 Isko, asking for people to help. Nugent’s production manager contacted the Vice President of Phoenix Protective Corporation out of Spokane, who in turn offered to buy the department a new K9.
Trying to help a great little town and great law enforcement heroes get a new K9 hound. Anything you can do will be super appreciated. Godspeed the K9 warriors!

The corporation not only paid for a K9, but also paid for two weeks of training at a training facility in California. The K9 will be dual trained, meaning it will be trained in Narcotics Detection and Patrol. Chief of Police Loren Culp is currently a week and a half into training with K9 Karma in Oakley, California.
K9 Karma has had extensive training and is not a “bite” dog. He instead is trained to “bark and hold,” which means he will find the suspect and bark at them. He will not bite the suspect unless his suspect makes an aggressive move or unless his handler commands it.
K9 Karma was rescued from a high kill shelter. He is a year and a half old German Shepherd male.
As a team, K9 Karma and Chief Culp have a lot of training to complete before they can be certified by the State of Washington. Chief Culp has already contacted the Spokane Police Department and will hopefully be enrolled in their next Patrol K9 School this spring. The department is planning on having fundraisers to cover the cost of both equipment and training.
Ted Nugent and his wife have both posted on their Facebook page asking for donations to a GoFundMe campaign for Republic police. Nugent also autographed an electric guitar for the department, which will be selling raffle tickets to help fund the K9 unit’s training.
According to the GoFundMe, Republic lost K9 Isko unexpectedly to cancer.
