Take out those shovels! Heavy snow is headed our way Friday
Here is your weather forecast for Thursday, January 9
SPOKANE, Wash. — Say ‘goodbye’ to the mild weather, Spokane. Heavy snow is expected Friday afternoon.
Take my advice – take today to take care of business. If you need to head to the store, prep your car, prep your house, do it today before you have to deal with messy roads tomorrow.
Light snow will start early Friday. Around the evening commute, about 4 to 5 p.m., is when we could start seeing heavy snow arrive to our area. A possible 1-4 inches expected in Spokane for the valley floor. In total, Spokane and Coeur d’Alene have the potential to see up to 6-8 inches of snow come down from Friday and into Saturday.
For today, afternoon high temperatures will sit in the mid-30s. Tonight, lows in the low-20s. Sunshine mixed in with some clouds for your Thursday weather conditions.
As you head out for work, make sure to take it slow on roads across areas of Eastern Washington and North Idaho. Recent snowmelt and freezing temperatures are causing pockets of black ice in these regions, according to the National Weather Service.
