Idaho prisons director seeks 7 percent budget boost

Idaho's top prison official asked legislative budget writers on Wednesday to approve a roughly 7 percent budget increase, with much of the money going to fund beds and services for the state's growing prison population and to revamp the state's computer system for tracking inmates. 

State budget panel OKs $3M for inmate hepatitis C cure

Idaho's legislative budget writers approved about $3 million for treating inmates with severe liver disease as well as half a million dollars to add 99 beds to the state's prison system as inmate populations continue to rise amid rapid state growth.
