Swanson Lake Wildfire 30 Percent Contained

DAVENPORT – More than 700 firefighters are making headway on the Swanson Lake Wildfire, but this weekend’s sun-packed weather has them concerned the fire could grow again.

Flames have already scorched more than 19,000 acres and 18 structures, including one home. The fire is 30 percent contained as of Friday.

Homeowners along Hawk Creek Road are on notice that they may need to be evacuated if fire conditions intensify.

Fire investigators say lightning from Monday evening’s storm likely sparked the wildfire, but an official cause has not been announced.
