Suspect Leads Police On Chase Through Downtown

SPOKANE — One man is in custody after leading officers on a high speed chase through downtown Spokane.

The pursuit started just after 7:45 Tuesday morning when Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to pull over a vehicle along Sunset Highway. The car sped along the highway and at one point, crashed into a guardrail near Inland Empire Way.

At 7:51, Sheriff’s deputies terminated their pursuit as the car entered several downtown Spokane streets.

The vehicle traveled the wrong way down 2nd Avenue, North Monroe, and Spokane Falls Blvd. before a witness spotted the car parked in the parking lot at the Red Lion Inn at the Park.

Two men left the car and headed towards the Spokane River, but Spokane Police arrived shortly after they left the vehicle and were able to take them into custody. One of the men was questioned by police and subsequently let go.

The car, a red Nissan Sentra, has been impounded.
