Sullivan files Tucker recall paperwork
The effort to recall Spokane County Prosecutor Steve Tucker became official as Shannon Sullivan, the woman who led the successful grassroots effort to recall Spokane Mayor Jim West, filed the recall paperwork Friday.
“He is an elected official,” Sullivan said Thursday. “He needs to be held accountable for his actions, or lack of action.”
The paperwork was filed with Spokane County Auditor Vicky Dalton, who said the charges against Tucker will be submitted to the attorney general so he can write the synopsis within 15 days, then the supreme court will decide whether or not it will be put on the ballot within 15 days as well.
If there is no appeal from Tucker, Sullivan has 180 days to gather more than 42,000 signatures. The recall election would be between 45-60 days after that.
Tucker is currently out of the area, won’t be back until next Tuesday, and remained unavailable for comment.
“I’m sure he’s a decent person, my issue is his job, and I’m here to give the vote back to the people,” Sullivan said.
