Student brings gun to Sunset Elementary School in Airway Heights

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — Sunset Elementary School informed parents that a student had brought a gun to school in a backpack on Monday.
The school says that the weapon was shown to a student on a school bus and to several other students on school premises. Two students notified an adult about the gun, and it was quickly secured without incident.
No one was hurt as a result of Monday’s incident. The school reminded the public that guns of any sort, real or fake, are not allowed on school premises or school-provided transportation.
Sunset Elementary asked parents to teach their children about the essential practice of “see something, say something.”
The school thanked its staff and administrative team for acting quickly, along with the Airway Heights Police Department and Sunset’s YES Officer who investigated Monday’s incident.
