Stolen firearms, ammunition found in motel room

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane police arrested two suspects accused of vehicle prowling at a downtown area motel.

Police were able to recover a stolen vehicle, numerous stolen firearms, and nearly 10,000 rounds of live ammunition out of a room in the Downtowner Motel.

A vehicle prowling was reported inside the Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center’s parking garage on March 21. The male and female suspects, who have been identified as Joseph W. Thomas, a nine time convicted felon, and Yasmine R. Garrett, a four time convicted felon, arrived to the location in a stolen truck.

They then broke the window of a parked car, stole a number of firearms out of the car, and then fled the area.
Police were able to locate the stolen truck near the intersection of 2nd and Division. They then developed information that led them to a room of the Downtowner Motel. Further investigation led to the completion of a search warrant for the suspects’ room.

Several firearms were located inside the room and there was evidence of approximately 10,000 rounds of live ammunition.

The suspects were booked into Spokane County Jail for one count of Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. They were later charged with a variety of crimes, including Unlawful Posession of a Firearm, Theft of a Firearm, and Vehicle Prowling.
