Stamp prices could jump; may be the biggest hike in postal service history

The U.S. Postal Service wants a price hike on stamps- and it’s a big one. If they get their way, the cost of a Forever stamp, or the cost of mailing a one-ounce letter, would jump from 50 cents to 55 cents. That’s the biggest increase in history. Back in 1991, a stamp price increased four cents from 25 to 29 cents.
If approved, this will be the third year in a row the price of stamps has risen.
The increase must be approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission. If it is, the new rates will be into effect January 27, 2019.
