SR27 now back open after extensive work to clear snow drifts
Crews with the Washington State Department of Transportation have been working day and night to clear State Route 27 for about a week now. As of 2:00 a.m on Wednesday, March 6, the highway is now completely back open.
High winds and drifting snow have made for dangerous driving conditions on the highway. While it is now safe to drive again, snow berms are still higher than six feet on the side of the road in some areas.
See video of the extensive snow removal effort here.
WSDOT urges everyone to drive cautiously through the area.
