Spokane Valley deputies arrested a wanted felon Friday after the man assaulted his girlfriend and hid in a neighbor’s trailer.

Spokane Valley deputies responded to a report of a male, possibly armed with a knife, and female arguing. Deputies learned the suspect, 48-year-old Jeffrey G. Jeffus, had assaulted his girlfriend and fought with another man who tried to help.

Deputies also learned Jeffus had an active felony warrant out for his arrest, and that he had run to a neighbor’s trailer to hide, even after they told him to leave.

A SWAT team and K9 unit were called. K9 Enzo barked loudly to announce his presence, and Jeffus came to the door and surrendered.

Jeffus received medical treatment for injuries from the initial fight, and was booked into the Spokane County Jail for the felony warrant, as well as new charges of fourth degree assault and obstructing law enforcement.
