Spokane Police: Shots fired near Perry District apartment complex
SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Police said shots were fired near an apartment complex in the South Perry District on Thursday.
Officers responded to the area of S. Richard Allen Court and E. Celesta Ave for a report of an assault around 11:30 a.m.
Police told 4 News Now one person was injured in the assault and then shots were fired between two groups of people. They are not aware of anyone being injured in the shooting.
Officers are now searching for people who were possibly involved and ran away from the scene.
While assessing the scene, officers recovered one bullet and an airsoft gun.
Neighbors said the incident was a drive-by shooting. They said they heard several rounds of shots before cars peeled off. They also said this is something that has happened several times before.
Neighbors expressed concern that one part of the apartment complex often has gang-related activity going on.
Two people were taken into custody on unrelated warrants.
This is a developing story. 4 News now is on scene working to confirm more information.
