Spokane Police searching for carjacking suspect on lower South Hill

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Police are searching for a carjacking suspect involved in two collisions on the lower South Hill on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the first crash occurred at Second Avenue and Thor Street, where 23-year-old Raul Arevalo, who had been driving a stolen car from Oregon, allegedly carjacked the victim’s car after assaulting them and drove toward downtown Spokane. Shortly afterwards, there was a collision at 7th and S. Washington involving the stolen car from the first collision.

An emergency alert was sent out to phones, telling people to avoid Seventh and Washington.

A K-9 unit is now tracking the suspect.

Arevalo is described as a Hispanic man, standing five-feet eleven-inches tall with short, dark hair, last seen wearing gray shorts and no shirt. He is currently wanted for first-degree robbery and theft of a motor vehicle.
