Spokane police: Child luring did not happen

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane police investigating a report of an attempted child luring near 21st and Thor confirmed Tuesday afternoon the incident didn’t happen.
The investigation was prompted by a report from a man who said he had just dropped off his two kids at Lincoln Heights Elementary School when he heard a child screaming. The witness then says he saw a man trying to pull a five or six-year-old child into a white van. The witness said he pulled the child away and the child then ran into the school.
Police conducted interviews with neighbors in the area, contacted nearby schools and reviewed surveillance video and determined there was no evidence the luring attempt occurred.
However as a rule, if you ever see a suspicious incident such as child luring, police said to try and get a detailed description of the car, including the license plate number, as well as descriptions of the suspect and victim and what direction they were last seen traveling and call 911 immediately.
