Spokane Cruises Past Silvertips At Home

SPOKANE – Brady Calla scored two goals as Spokane cruised to defeat the Everett Silvertips by 7-2 Wednesday night in the Spokane Arena.

Calla and five other Chiefs would find the net in Wednesday’s win. Spokane finished it’s eight game regular season series 7-1 against the Silvertips, Everett lost all four times at the Arena.

Spokane put up an impressive four goals in the first period alone. Calla started the scoring at just 1:01 into the first period.

The next three goals came at the end of the period for the Chiefs. Levko Koper scored at 16:05, Ondrej Roman would score at 17:26 and Tyler Johnson found the back of the net at 18:09. Roman’s and Johnson’s goals came on the power play.

Spokane scored three more times in the second period. Dustin Donaghy’s slap shot and Drayson Bowman’s unassisted goal would put Spokane up 6-0. Calla’s second goal of the night quickly made it 7-0 at 9:03 in the second period.

The Silvertips first found success with a goal at 10:56 in the second, their last goal would come in the third period. But it was small time compared to Spokane’s tally as the Chiefs coasted to the win.

Meanwhile, the Kelowna Rockets beat Portland 4-1. The Rockets maintained a one point lead over the Chiefs for third place in the WHL Western Conference.

Spokane has three regular season games left. They play division leader Tri-City Americans in a home and home series starting Friday and on Saturday, then it’s on to the season finale against Kelowna on Sunday at the Arena.
