NEWMAN LAKE, Wash. — The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is once again offering its Introduction to Women’s Self-Defense Course.

The course is taught by the Sheriff’s Office’s very own defensive tactics instructors. It teaches deterrents, avoidance, and how to detect a personal attack.

The class also offers a hands-on portion where women can learn basic self-defense maneuvers.

The course is open to all women, ages 14 and up, for a fee of $40.

It runs from 8 a.m.- noon on Saturday, March 7, at the Sheriff’s Training Center, located at 6011 N Chase Rd in Newman Lake.

The Sheriff’s Office advises you bring a water bottle, towel, and note taking material. You’re also asked to wear athletic gear and comfortable shoes for the hands-on portion.
