Spokane Chiefs honoring local military at Saturday’s game

SPOKANE, Wash. – As the Spokane Chiefs take on the Regina Pats, they’ll honor local heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice with their annual Military Appreciation Night.

The team, along with the Spokane Arena, have been busy preparing; hanging banners from the ceiling inside the Arena that feature photos of soldiers along with their name and where in the Inland Northwest they called home. The banners were provided by the Washington State Fallen Heroes Project, who started their Banner Project after 9/11 to help remember and honor those that gave their lives fighting for freedom.

Ticket holders will get double the game on Saturday. Prior to the puck drop at 7:05pm, the Fairchild Falcons will scrimmage against the Spokane Fire Department. Doors to the annual game will open at 4:30pm.

Special tributes will take place throughout the evening and the Spokane Chiefs will wear special military-themed jerseys for the game. They’ll then be auctioned off with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Washington Fallen Heroes Project.
