Spokane Businesses The Victim Of Donation Scam
SPOKANE VALLEY — A man claiming to be a part of the Spokane Valley Junior Soccer Association and Spokane Youth Sports Associates is ripping off local businesses.
The man uses the name Scott Williams or Jeff Brooks and tells business owners he needs donations in the form of a business ad to be printed in a local sports magazine.
There are no such ads and the printing company he cites has no program like the one he describes.
The man usually hits pizza and ice cream stores, sports bars and sandwich shops.
The suspect is describes as either American Indian or Hispanic and is in his lat 40s. He’s five feet eight to five feet ten inches tall with black hair, brown eyes and a dark complexion.
The Spokane Police Department says this type of scam occurs annually and is successful until the business community becomes aware.
