SPD arrests suspect in armed sexual assault

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Police Department arrested a suspect in an armed sexual assault that occurred in Northwest Spokane on Tuesday.

The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Daniel J. Magee. He was taken into custody without incident at an apartment in Northwest Spokane by SPD SWAT.

Detectives established probable cause for first-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping regarding the assault. Magee also has a warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm, along with multiple other warrants.

Magee has 22 felony convictions, including 3 convictions of theft of a firearm, five convictions of first and second-degree burglary, second-degree robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm, and riot with a deadly weapon.

Spokane Police thanked community members who provided information on this case. Investigators are still collecting information.

The investigation is ongoing and no additional suspect are currently being sought.
