Sound Off for March 12th: Should seat belts be required on school buses?

More than three dozen children were injured in a rollover school bus crash near Quincy this morning.
The crash happened near State Route 281 and Road 5 at 8:20 a.m.
Authorities report that the bus veered off the road, overcorrected and rolled.
The students’ injuries ranged from bloody noses, scrapes and bruises to three students who were seriously injured, with one of those requiring evacuation by a MedStar helicopter.
Of those students, six have been admitted to the hospital.
Numerous federal and academic studies have concluded that school buses are the safest form of ground transportation of all.
The National Safety Council says they’re about 40 times safer than the family car.
Even so, six states require seat belts on school buses.
What do you think?
Should school buses have seat belts?
Do you feel many of today’s injuries could have been prevented if the students were strapped in?
