Snowy Winter Could Bring Spring Floods
BOISE (AP) — All the snow this winter is good for the snowpack but experts say it could mean flooding this spring.
The Idaho leaders are reminding Idaho residents that homeowners insurance policies typically don’t include flood coverage.
And David Loper, the director of Environmental Health Services for Southwest District Health, says flooding can create problems with private sewage systems and domestic wells.
Warmer weather is expected in the coming months, but National Weather Service meteorologist Stephen Parker says the biggest risk will come from any warm rains falling on the snow.
Properties along rivers and streams in Adams, Washington, Owyhee, Camas, Ada, Boise, Valley, Clearwater and Idaho counties are among those considered to be at increased risk for flooding.
